Financial Aid

 

The Diversity Scholarship is a variable award depending upon funds available. It will be awarded for a specific dollar amount up to tuition.

 

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP:

* You must apply for admission.

* You must be a first-time freshman or new transfer student.

* You must be a graduate of an accredited high school.

* You must enroll in at least 15 credit hours and be a degree-seeking student.

* FRESHMEN must rank in the upper 50% of high school class or 2.5 GPA or a 21 ACT score.

* TRANSFER students must have at least a 2.5 Transfer GPA.

* You must be a U.S. Citizen with a diverse background .

* You must enroll in any bachelor degree program offered at MSSU.

* You must fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

 

TO APPLY: Complete the following application. You may include a list of extra-curricular activities, honors, awards, offices held, and a summary of work experience. Selection is based on class rank, GPA, school and community activities, evidence of leadership, character, and financial need. Official academic transcripts must be sent to the Admissions Office. Scholarships are awarded upon transcript evaluation and verification of the scholarship criteria and selection.

 

RENEWAL CRITERIA: Transfer students are eligible for scholarship renewal up to four consecutive semesters. Freshmen scholarships are renewable up to eight consecutive semesters. For renewal, students must enroll in 15 credit hours and complete at least 12 credit hours per semester with a 2.5 GPA the first semester of the award and a 3.0 semester GPA each consecutive semester thereafter.

Academic scholarships may not be combined. Students who qualify for more than one academic institutional scholarship will be awarded the highest value academic scholarship. Diversity scholarships may be combined with performance awards, not to exceed tuition and residence hall costs.

 

Diversity Scholarships may be replaced with Patron/Foundation Scholarships of equal or higher value.
