Types of Grants available
Federal Pell Grant The Federal Pell Grant Program awards Pell Grants to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree. For many students, Pell Grants provide a foundation of financial aid to which other aid may be added. To determine if you are eligible, you must complete the electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Awards range from $400.00 to a maximum of $4,050.00. The college will credit your account and if there is a balance, a check will be mailed to your permanent address.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is given to undergraduate students that demonstrate exceptional financial need. Since funds are limited, only Pell Grant recipients can receive these grants. Applicants must complete the paper or electronic Free Application for Federal Student Financial Aid. The priority processing date is February 15 prior to the academic year. Awards range from $100.00 to $4,000.00.
Charles Gallagher Student Financial Assistance Program The Charles Gallagher Program is a state program based on financial need. Full-time student must complete the electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid(FAFSA) prior to April 1 each year. Since funds are limited, Missouri Southern only receives a few dozen of these grants because the college is a low cost school. The grant will not exceed the lesser of one half of tuition and fees of the previous year or $1,500. | |||
