STUDENT EMPLOYMENT OFFICE
Hearnes Hall Room F-117
On-campus and off-campus jobs are available to all current students regardless of their financial status.
Employed students gain confidence in themselves, develop greater understanding of their strengths, weaknesses, values, and goals. Most students are able to successfully manage a job, classes, and extracurricular activities.
On-Campus Jobs
All MSSU departments are interested in finding dependable students to assist in a variety of duties. Secretarial duties are needed in almost every department.
On-campus jobs work well with student schedules. Students are able to work an hour, go to class and then return to work again. These jobs are ideal for dorm students.
Campus positions are available as Student Help positions or as Federal Work-Study positions. You must be Work-Study eligible to fill Work-Study positions. Refer to the Federal Work-Study section.
To apply for on-campus Student Help positions, come by the Student Employment Office, complete a Student Employment Application and set an appointment to talk with Linda Sadler, the Student Employment Coordinator for placement.
Campus jobs go quickly in the first weeks of the semester. Contact the Student Employment Office as soon as possible.

Federal Work-Study
Many times the term Work-Study is used to generally refer to any student working in an on-campus position. However, Work-Study is a federal program designed to help finance tuition, fees, room and board for the students with most need.
Students on Work-Study are determined eligible through the Financial Aid office each year. You must apply early before these limited funds become depleted.
At Missouri Southern Work-Study pay is funded 100 percent making Work-Study students attractive as an employee. The only disadvantage is the limited amount of monies that may be earned.
You must accept your Work Study award on Lionet.

Employers in the four-state area regularly call to list a job opening in their company with the Student Employment Office. As a result many good part-time jobs are available for current MSSU students. Jobs range from $6.65 - $9.00 an hour in pay. Schedules vary from 10-15 hours to up to 35-38 hours a week. Morning, afternoon, evening and weekend jobs are available.

Use our online form or print the application and bring it with you to the appointment, HH-117. Take a few minutes to browse the Job Board and jot down job codes that interest you.
Temporary Help
Jobs under the temporary classification may range from a few hours, days or two to three months. Students may look under this category for immediate jobs when a small amount of cash is needed.
Current lists are also kept of students interested in Child Care, Housecleaning or skills such as carpentry, painting, typing, tutoring or serving. As calls are received from employers for these type of positions, these students will be called.
Be sure to check in with Linda Sadler, Student Employer Coordinator, HH-117 to register your name for temporary help positions. Complete the Student Application, print it off and bring it to the Student Employment Office with you.
