Dr. Karolyn Yocum teaches Speech Communication. A nationally known authority on the assessment of outcomes and on teacher education preparation, Dr. Yocum teaches such classes as Interpersonal Communication, Nonverbal Communication, Small Group Communication, and Gender Communication in addition to working with future teachers of speech and drama. Although the majority of her career has been in teaching university classes, she began as a 9-12 public school teacher. Dr. Yocum has a B.S.Ed. and an M.S. from Pittsburg (Kansas) State University, and Ed.S. from Central Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. She taught at Central Missouri State University before coming to Missouri Southern in 1987.
