The Department Head is Dr. J.R. Moorman who teaches Speech Communication. He came to Speech Communication by way of studies in sociology; he has a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Sociology, both from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, his Ph.D in Speech Communication is also from SIU. Dr. Moorman has taught English to Chinese students in Taiwan and has taught and been an academic advisor at Southern Illinois University. He has worked in manufacturing, in sales, and in management, and brings a diversified background to his teaching.
