The following class is an addition to the Intersession 2006 course listings.

 

Anth/Soc 298 (2 hr) - The Upper Yucatan Mayan Civilizations

Upper Yucatan Mayan Civilization - MSSUThis is a two hour intersession course which will study the classical ancient Mayan peoples of the upper Yucatan in Mexico. The urban areas that Cortes (the first white man) saw will be the subject of this study (as a specialized part of the larger Mayan civilization). Included in the course is a seven day onsite trip to Mexico where the class will meet with anthropologists from the Maya Exploration Center. They will conduct the class on an anthropological tour of ancient Mayan urban sites. This international travel experience is a major part of this intersession course.
