Classes and other services designed to meet the special academic needs of students
are offered through the Center. The Learning Center hours are Monday through
Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tutoring in Content Areas and Writing
Peer and faculty tutors are available. Tutoring is by appointment and
on a drop-in basis. Both short- and long-term assistance is provided.
English 080 -- Basic Composition
A basic writing course taken in preparation for English 101. Students
write at least six major papers with special attention given to organization, syntax, grammar, and mechanics.

Education 151 -- College Academic Skills I
A course intended to assist students in the transition from secondary
school to college with special emphasis given to the all important
six weeks of the semester. (Listed under Teacher Education and Learning
Center.)
Education 152 - College Academic Skills II
A course designed specifically to initiate and support the academic development
needed for college and beyond. The opportunity will be provided to
learn and adopt methods that will promote success: learning how to
learn and how to study effectively. (Listed under Teacher Education
and Learning Center.)
Education 105 – Speed Reading
A course designed specifically to increase reading speed. Not recommended
for students with comprehension problems. (Listed under Teacher Education
