Christians bow to dead being

I used to be a Christian, but now I'm not.

I remember those days. Whenever something went wrong, you could just say God wasn't willing for you to do that. Either that or Satan was trying to get at you. And whenever something went right, well, let's all praise the Lord! I remember those days well. Man, it was great being young and naive.

I guess the best way of putting it is to ironically quote a famous Christian song: "I once was blind, but now I see." I was really blind. Looking back, I feel really stupid too. But hey, at least I came to my senses, which is more than I can say for most of you. I realized how absolutely absurd it was to be worshiping a being that was supposedly "all-powerful," yet couldn't or wouldn't stop all the problems that went on in the world. It was also brought to my attention that there was really no proof there even is a God. Oh, wait, the Bible says there is one, so there must be, yeah?

Screw that. The Bible is a book. Not only that, but it is a book that has been passed down by word of mouth for countless years and then translated into numerous different languages. There is no way at all it can give any kind of accurate account of those times. But let's for a second imagine it can. So let's pretend the Bible is right and there is actually a God (pretty hard to pretend, but let's anyway).

So all of us should practice this religion that for centuries has been the focal point of mass murders, massacres, genocides, and the wiping out of centuries-old cultures, all in the name of God. That is such crap. How can you people try to worship this made-up being whose name has been used for some of the biggest hate crimes in the history of man?

Think about it. Slave drivers felt they had the right of God to put people in chains and beat them. Missionaries travel all over the world and destroy the cultures of people who, since the beginning of time, have been perfectly fine not knowing God. Plus, worse than that, the Bible even talks about how God sent men out to take back  the promised land.  Taking it back meant destroying people s homes and ways of life. But wait, slave drivers and the people who have committed the hate crimes were not true Christians, right? So define a true Christian for me, please. Somebody? Anybody?

Everyone has their own little version of what a "true Christian" is. For some, a true Christian is someone who never sins (doesn't drink, sleep around, smoke, cuss, etc.). Wait, though. I know Christians who believe smoking is OK. Others believe drinking (as long as it isn t in excess, mind you) is just fine. Yet other Christians see no problem whatsoever with sleeping around. Where do you get an actual definition of a true Christian? There is no such thing. So why bother trying to be one? I don't really see the point in it. Just a waste of time and fun.

Not only that, but it is a religion based upon hypocrisy and greed. Supposedly, material wants are bad, but what is every little kid taught about heaven in Sunday school? I was taught that the streets would be made of gold beyond the pearly gates. Wow, how more contradictory can one get? So how can material goods and greed be OK in heaven, but not here? It doesn t quite make sense to me.

So let me let you all in on a little secret of the modern world. If there ever was a God, which there wasn't, he either cut his losses and pulled out a long time ago or he died. Either way, he is no more, and the religion that follows him is dead also. You people just don't realize it yet. Get with the program.
