Wanted - members to join the United Nations - the Model United Nations Club, that is.

Missouri Southern is host to a Model UN Club. This year, the American model will represent Costa Rica, while the Midwest model will represent South Africa. The club is a model of the United Nations headquartered in New York.

Dr. Paul Teverow, professor of history, has been the adviser for the club since its inception in 1985.

"I have been the adviser for 17 years," Teverow said.

Students who join the club will act as delegates as if with the United Nations and will sit on committees to discuss real-world issues.

Simulations for the AMUN will have a Security Council, Historical Security Council, General Assembly Plenary, four General Assembly Committees, Economic and Social Council, Special Committee, International Court of Justice, and an International Press Delegation.

The Model UN Club is suited for students interested in global politics and international relations. Students will have the opportunity to meet other Model UN Club members from around the country at an AMUN conference in Chicago and the Midwest model conference in St. Louis.

Students interested may contact Teverow in the social science department at 625-3114.
