Campus
board finishes Homecoming plans Staff Writer
Chances
for all to participate in some school spirit will take place during
Homecoming week, Oct. 28-Nov. 2, which topped the discussion at the
Campus Activities Board meeting on Oct. 21. There
have been fliers put up to announce all of the planned activities, and
there are plenty of events catering to almost everyone. The
schedule of events includes: picture this novelty from 9 a.m.-3
p.m. on Monday; a game show, Think Fast from 12:15-2 p.m. on
Tuesday; and a make-your-own music video from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on
Wednesday. All these events will take place on the second floor of the
Billingsly Student Center. From
7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, a family skate night/Halloween costume contest is
set for the Webb City skating rink. Participants are encouraged to dress
up in their favorite costume. Several
events are planned for Friday, Nov. 1, including an all-campus picnic
from 10:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and laser tag from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the
campus oval. There
will be two movies showing in Leggett & Platt Athletic Center from
7-11 p.m.: Spider-man and Triple X. To
end the week, there will be the Homecoming parade at 11:30 a.m. and
football game at 2 p.m.with Missouri Southern facing Missouri Western on
Saturday, Nov. 2. At the game, the king and queen royalty will be
announced from participating organizations and the CAB has nominated
Kristopher Knight, sophomore marketing major, and Michelle Boley, senior
psychology major. In
other business, concert committee chair David Kenny announced his
resignation from the CAB. Kenny is a full-time student at Southwest
Missouri State University and wants to devote more time to his classes
there. Kenny
said he would still be willing to help the CAB with any concert needs,
but would not be able to attend meetings. Committee
reports were discussed. Sabrina Tyndall, family events committee chair,
announced the fliers for the skate night were made and ready to be put
up. Tyndall also said she would be leaving the CAB starting in the
spring, and that Lyndse Bergen, sophomore special education major, would
take her place. Bergen has been working alongside Tyndall to learn her
responsibilities better. A
suggestion to get T-shirts made for CAB members was made, and design
ideas are recommended. Boley said she would help with the design, and
input from other members is encouraged. The
next meeting is at noon Monday in the BSC, Room 310. |
