Student forgets no-cell phone policy in library

On Sept. 11, security was notified about a student who attempted to overdose on over-the-counter medication.

An individual who was at Freeman Health System with the student asked security to search the student's room.

It was later confirmed the student had taken several over-the-counter medications.

The student was admitted to Freeman.

 

 

2. Cell Phone Use

     9/12/2002

      10:45 a.m.  

   

Security was called to the library on Sept. 12 about a student using a cell phone.

The student had been warned before about the use of cell phones in the library. The librarian had been advised earlier to call security if the student came to the library and used his cell phone.

Security asked the student if he had used his cell phone, but he denied it. He later admitted to it. Security also asked him his name. The suspected that he had not given his real name. His real name was later confirmed.

 

3. Harassment

     9/12/2002

      4 p.m.

 

An instructor reported to security that one of her students was being stalked by a fellow student.

Apparently, a male student asked a female student out on a date. She refused his request, and the male began following the female after a Sept. 10 class. The male student followed the female from campus to a drive-in bank on Maiden Lane. She sped off and lost him in traffic.

Security advised the student to report al incidents and possibly look into a restraining order.

 

4. Personal Injury

     9/13/2002

      11:44 a.m.

   

Security was notified to help a student who had fallen from her wheelchair Sept. 13.

The student's sleeve became tangled with the on switch and the forward motion lever causing the chair to move suddenly. The motion caused her to fall out of the chair.

Several bystanders helped the student get back in her chair.

The student received a cut on her right knee and severe bruising on both knees and hands.

The student refused medical treatment from security.
