Canada is one of the leading members of the 37-nation NATO-led International Security Assistance Force mission in Afghanistan, and more than 25,000 Canadian personnel have deployed to Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf since October 2001. Canadian Consul General Georges Rioux will discuss the three-pronged strategy being taken in Afghanistan to help defend and rebuild this troubled region. Georges
Rioux was appointed Consul General of Canada and arrived in Chicago to
assume his duties on Aug. 14, 2006. He is
actively engaged in the
three-state area for which he is responsible — Illinois, Missouri,
and Wisconsin. |
