Missouri Southern State University (MSSU), located in Joplin, Missouri, is a public, comprehensive, four-year institution with a nationally recognized international mission that focuses on giving students a global perspective while teaching social responsibility among interconnected societies.
With an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students, MSSU lies at the heart of the Four-State region, comprised of southwest Missouri, southeast Kansas, northeast Oklahoma, and northwest Arkansas. Since 1995, MSSU has had a state-mandated international mission. The basis of this mission is to prepare students in this otherwise insulated region of the U.S. to understand world affairs and international issues.
As evidence of its success in fulfilling this mission, MSSU was recommended by the American Council on Education (ACE) as one of eight universities nationwide to participate as a model in “Promising Practices,” a program designed to encourage colleges and universities to internationalize their campuses and link international activities to their core mission. In addition, Missouri Southern was one of 13 U.S. colleges and universities included in Internationalizing the Campus 2004: Profiles of Success at Colleges and Universities, a major report published by NAFSA: Association of International Educators, for its themed semesters. The report showcases U.S. colleges and universities that are making innovative, wide-ranging efforts to integrate global approaches into teaching and campus learning.
It is because of our institutional commitment to global learning and the strength of our Accounting and Finance programs that the School of Business at MSSU is honored to partner with Quisqueya University under the auspices of USAID and Higher Education for Development.
Located in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Universite Quisqueya is a private, non-profit institution which was founded in 1998 by a group of Haitian educators. It is recognized as one of the leading private universities in Haiti.
