Horn in fourth place after day one of Heptathlon

-- Missouri Southern's Phillip Horn is in fourth place after day one of the heptathlon at the 2009 NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Houston.

Horn utilized a huge high jump where he won the event with a height of six feet, eight and three quarter inches. He sits in fourth place after four events, trailing Central Missouri's Darius Walker by 69 points. Adams State's Wayne Durham and Abilene Christian's Camille Vandendrie are second and third respectively going into the final day.

In women's action, Ciara Lipsey placed eighth in the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, nine and three quarter inches to earn All-American status, while Emilie Mieseler placed 13th in the weight throw with a distance of 53 feet, nine and a quarter inches.

Horn will finish his final three events of the Heptathlon tomorrow, while Nicole Green will compete in the shot put, Kimi Shank in the 5,000 meters and Channell Lloyd in the triple jump in the final day of the meet.
