Lions sign two for 2009

Joplin,
Mo. -- Missouri Southern women's track and cross country coach Patty Vavra has announced the addition of Dora Eastin and Kat Oberle to the track and cross country teams at Southern beginning in the fall of 2009.

Eastin is a native of Neosho, Mo. where she prepped at Neosho High School for coach Harry Linenberry. A cross country team MVP twice, as well as the rookie of the year her freshman campaign, Eastin served as a team captain this year and lettered four times in cross country. She helped the Wildcats to three conference championships and one district title in cross country.

Equalling the conference and district titles in track, Eastin helped the Neosho 4x800 relay team to a third place finish at the state meet, and beat the school record in the event by five seconds. She was the team's MVP twice and lettered four times. The daughter of Jim and Lorena Eastin, Dora plans to major in social work at Southern.

Oberle is a native of St. Louis, where she prepped for coach Mike Bishop at Oakville High School. A four year letter winner in both cross country and track for the Tigers, Oberle placed third in both the 1600 and 3200 meters this past year at the state meet.

In cross country, Oberle placed 30th at the 4A state race and was a second-team All-Metro selection by the St. Louis Post Dispatch. The daughter of Andrew Oberle and Jennifer Dujmovic, Kat plans to major in nursing at Southern.
