Women's track signs McDonald County standout

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern women's track and field coach Patty Vavra has announced the signing of McDonald County track standout Gayla Booth to a national letter of intent to attend Southern and participate in track beginning in the spring of 2009.

Booth, a 5'4 jumper/sprinter ran track for coach Bruce Stancell at Mac County. A four year letterwinner for the Mustangs, Booth was an All-State selection her senior season after picking up a fourth place finish in the high jump at the Missouri State High School Championships.

She was the conference champion in the triple jump, and a sectional and district champ in the high jump. Booth also participated in the long jump and sprint relays, as well as being a three year starter on the Mustang softball team, being named first team All-Conference and All-District this past season.

The daughter of Dale Booth and Sheila Stout, Booth plans on majoring in business at Southern.
