FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Selby-Tallman named
MIAA Field Athlete of the Week A 5-8 senior from Galena, Selby-Tallman improved her qualifying mark in the hammer by winning the event at the MSSU Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational last Friday. She won the event and broke her own school record by throwing the hammer 193 feet, six inches, breaking her old record of 187-7 by nearly six feet. The mark is tops in Division II this year. She also picked up another automatic qualification in the shot put when she won the event with a distance of 49 feet, six and a half inches. She currently has the top throw (50-4.5) in that event, as well. Selby-Tallman and the Lions will be in Maryville this weekend as the women will try to win the triple crown at the 2008 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Lions have won the cross country and indoor titles already this season. |
