Selby-Tallman captures third MIAA Field Athlete of the Week honor

Kansas City, Mo.
-- Missouri Southern senior thrower Jessica Selby-Tallman has captured her third MIAA Field Athlete of the Week honor of the year as announced by the league office today. Selby has won the award in three out of the four weeks so far this season, with the lone exception being a week the Lions did not compete.

Selby-Tallman, a 5-8 senior from Galena, Mo., was the top Division II competitor in both the shot put and weight throw at the Nebraska Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational last weekend (Feb. 1-2).

She again showed her All-American form with another automatic qualifying distance in the shot put, finishing fifth with a distance of 50-3.25 (15.32m). The distance is second in Division II this year only to her 15.75m mark last weekend. She was seventh in the weight throw with a distance of 56 feet even (17.07m), a provisional qualifying distance, but she had already earned an automatic bid earlier in the year.

Selby-Tallman and the Lions will be back in action this weekend when the teams travel to Warrensburg to compete in the Central Missouri Mule Relays.
