FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Selby picks up second Region Field Athlete of the Year Award Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior thrower Jessica Selby has been named the South Central Region Female Field Athlete of the Year as announced by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association today. Selby was the indoor recipient of the same award this year, as well. Selby will lead the Southern women's contingent into the NCAA Division II national meet this weekend. The three-time defending MIAA indoor and outdoor shot put champion has the nation's best shot put and hammer throw going into the event. Selby won the MIAA titles in the shot and hammer this year throwing a school record 185 feet in the hammer. She added to her school records when she broke her own mark in the shot put with a toss of 49 feet, 10 inches at ESU. She is a two-time defending outdoor MIAA Hammer Throw Champ, as well. Selby and her teammates will head to Charlotte, North Carolina today to prepare for this weekend's National Meet.
