Jessica Selby named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern junior thrower Jessica Selby has been named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Selby, a 5-foot-8 junior from Galena, Mo., logged provisional qualifying efforts in two events and at two meets last weekend for the Lions.

Friday (April 20) at the Central Missouri Mule Relays, she won the shot put with a mark of 47 feet, 9.25 inches.

The next day at the University of Arkansas John McDonnell Invitational, Selby equaled her shot effort at UCM to place third (first among Division II competition). She then won the hammer with a mark of 167-8.

She is a graduate of Reeds Spring (Mo.) High School.

Selby and the Lions will be back in action this Friday when they play host to the Bill Williams/Bob Laptad Invitational at Hughes Stadium.
