McKay is a highly decorated track athlete out of Liberal High School in Liberal, Mo. where she competed for coach Brandi Goodell. Also a letter winner in volleyball and basketball, McKay won the state championship in the 100m, 200m and 400m, as well as the long jump as a junior in 2005. She was the Missouri Class 1 Female Athlete of the Year in 2005, after leading her team to a second place finish in the state meet. Liberal was fourth in 2004. She holds records in the 100m (12.23), 200m (25.70), 400m (59.06), as well as the long jump with a distance of 17 feet. Both of her parents are 1980 graduates of Southern. "Kelly has been a very successful athlete at the high school level," Vavra said. "She was a state champion in 2005 and we look for her to continue to develop and improve. She's definitely a winner. She has excelled at the highest level in high school track and is ready to move forward. One of her greatest strengths is her versatility. She can compete in a wide range of events for us." Bulgurova is originally a native or Russia, but prepped at Jefferson City High School in Jefferson City, Mo. for coach Jim Marshall. A distance and cross country runner, Bulgurova also participated in Volleyball. She was a three-time all-district selection, as well as all-sectional. A three-time state medalist in cross-country, Bulgurova's 4x800m team finished second at the sate meet in 2006, and she was named all-state last year. "Olga comes from an outstanding high school program at Jefferson City," Vavra said. "She has had immense success in track and cross country already and knows how to win. She will join our honors program and, like McKay is an excellent student."
