FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Southern's Selby named MIAA Field Athlete of the Week Overland Park, Kan. -- After winning two events, provisionally qualifying in both, and breaking her own school record in the shot put, Missouri Southern junior thrower Jessica Selby has been named the MIAA Field Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today. Selby, a 5-foot-8 junior from Galena, Mo., earned two victories with solid provisional qualifying marks for nationals at the Missouri Southern Festival Saturday (March 31). She won the hammer throw with a mark of 178 feet, 2 inches, which ranks her No. 2 in Division II in the event, six inches behind the event leader, Jennifer Tinney of Ashland (Ohio) at 178-8. Selby also claimed the shot put title with a toss of 48-6.75, also ranking her second in Division II in the event. Adrice Lackey of Angelo (Texas) State tops the list at 48-9. Selby and the Lions will be back in action this weekend traveling to Emporia State for the State Farm Invitational.
