Selby earns MIAA Athlete of the Week honor

Missouri Southern's Jessica Selby provisionally qualified in a second event for nationals during the MSSU Track & Field Festival Saturday (April 1) and captured Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday (April 4).

Selby, a 5-foot-8 sophomore from Galena, Mo., finished second in the shot put with a toss of 46 feet, 2.5 inches -- which
provisionally qualifies her in the event.

Selby also was third in the hammer with a provisional toss of 160-3 (she had a better throw earlier in the season).

She is a graduate of Reeds Spring (Mo.) High School.

It marks Selby's third MIAA Athlete of the Week award this school year and her second in three weeks during the outdoor season. Selby earned the honor on Jan. 23 and on March 21.
