Jones captures MIAA Athlete of the Week award

Missouri Southern State University's Danee Jones, a 5-foot-9 junior from Clayton, Mo., was named MIAA Athlete of the Week on Thursday in the sport of women's track & field.

Jones improved her provisional qualifying mark in the hammer throw, and had three top-three finishes at the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Invitational last weekend. She won the shot put (43-10.75), placed second in the discus (147-11) and third in the hammer (170-6). The hammer mark was an improvement of more than two feet.

Jones is a graduate of Clayton High School.
