Posch earns MIAA weekly honor for second time
Missouri Southern State University senior Sheryl Posch (Parsons, Kan.) was named Wilson/MIAA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Thursday, the conference announced.
Posch, a 5-foot-6 senior, was 2-0 in No. 1 singles and 4-1 with partner Lacey McMunn in No. 1 doubles as the Lions went 4-2 at the Central Oklahoma Broncho Invitational last weekend.
It marks the second MIAA Athlete of the Week honor this year for Posch.
Posch defeated Southwest Baptist's Charlotte Heidelberg, 6-0, 6-1, after she and McMunn downed Heidleberg and Valerie Jones in doubles, 8-4. MSSU blanked the Lady 'Cats, 5-0.
She also picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over Stephanie Johns of Central Oklahoma, after an 8-6 doubles win as the Lions downed UCO, 5-0.
Posch and McMunn also teamed for Southern's only flight win (8-2) in a 5-1 setback against Midwestern (Texas) State.
She is a graduate of Parsons High School.
