Posch earns player of the week honor
Four Missouri Southern State University
spring sports student-athletes, including tennis senior Sheryl Posch (Parsons,
Kan.), earned Wilson/MIAA Player of the Week accolades on
Tuesday, the MIAA announced.
Posch, a 5-foot-6 senior, went 1-1 in No. 1

the Lions last week.
Posch picked up a straight-sets win over
Southwest Baptist’s Melanie Cook, 6-1, 6-2, on Wednesday
(March 24). She and McMunn, the No. 24-ranked doubles team in
Division II, according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis
Association list, downed Cook and Valerie Jones, 8-2, to lead
the Lions to their third straight MIAA victory, 9-0.
She gave Northeastern (Okla.) State’s

Posch and McMunn lost to McKee and Berit Itschert in doubles,
8-2, as MSSU fell to the Lady Reds, 7-2.

singles. As a team, Southern improved to 6-5 overall and 3-0 in
the MIAA.
Sheryl Posch is a graduate of Parsons High
School.
