McMunn named to Academic All-America squad
Women’s tennis junior collects third-team honor

Lacey McMunn (Parsons, Kan.), a junior on the Missouri Southern State University women’s tennis team was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America team announced today.

McMunn, who maintains a perfect 4.0 grade-point average as an elementary education major, was chose for third-team honors for the first time in her career.

A 5-foot-8 junior, McMunn posted a 7-11 record as the Lions’ No. 2 singles player in the 2003-04 season. In doubles, she teamed with senior partner Sheryl Posch for the No. 1 slot on the MSSU team. The duo finished the season with a 16-11 mark and was ranked No. 4 in the North Central Region.

It’s the first CoSIDA Academic All-America award for McMunn, who has been on the Academic All-District VII team each of the last two years. She was a second-team selection on the Academic All-District squad in 2003.

The MSSU women’s tennis team finished with a 12-11 record in 2003-04 and advanced to the NCAA Division II North Central Regional Tournament.
