Kim McMunn named MIAA Player of the Week
Missouri Southern State University senior Kim McMunn (Parsons,
Kan.) was named MIAA Women’s Tennis Player of the Week,
the conference announced today.
McMunn posted a shutout in her No. 4
singles match on Sunday (March 14) as the Lions opened MIAA
play with a 9-0 victory over Missouri Western. She defeated
Missouri Western’s Audra Scopin 6-0, 6-0 after she and
Barb Gombosi combined for an 8-0 win over Mindy Buschbaum and
Amber Clutter at No. 2 doubles.
The singles win raised McMunn’s
record to 4-1 this spring. She and Gombosi are 4-2 at No. 2
doubles. Southern, the No. 7-ranked team in the North Central
Region, improved to 4-3 in duals with the victory over Missouri
Western.
McMunn, the mother of junior teammate Lacey
McMunn, is a graduate of Altamont (Kan.)-Labette County High
School.
Missouri Southern resumes its spring season
on Saturday (March 20) with a 1 p.m. contest at Lincoln,
followed by a 1 p.m. meeting on Sunday at Truman. Then the
Lions return home for a Monday matchup with Northeastern State
at 3 p.m.
