Lions bring in local recruit for 2007

Joplin, Mo. -- The 2007 edition of the Missouri Southern women's soccer squad will have a local flavor to it, as head coach Trevor Wachsman has announced the addition of Joplin native Lindsay Altman to the 2007 unit.

Altman is a 5-foot-4 versatile athlete that excelled in four sports at Joplin High School.  She was a four-year starter in soccer and earned first-team all-district and second-team all-conference honors.

She also competed in volleyball, basketball and track for the Eagles and was named the most outstanding female athlete in cross country and helped the Eagles to the 2006 track conference championship.  She also was a 4 X 400 state qualifier in track.

Known for her great work ethic, Altman received a hustle and heart award three years in soccer and four years in basketball.

In addition to her talents on the playing field, she has also exhibited the same kind of work ethic and has had success in the classroom as well.  Altman was an academic all-conference honorable mention selection in each of the four sports she participated in at Joplin.

Wachsman clearly likes the level of success that Altman will bring to the Lions' program both on the pitch and in the classroom.

"Lindsay is a great athlete that has excelled in every sport she has played," said Wachsman.  "I look forward to seeing her on campus and develop into a better player. It will be great to have a local kid that will be great in the classroom and a solid individual."
