Two Lions named to Daktronics All-Central Region squad

Missouri Southern women's soccer squad members Nikki Llewellyn (O'Fallon, Mo.) and Jessica Buhman (Olathe, Kan.) have both been selected to the Daktronics Women's Soccer All-Central Region first team, announced today.

Llewellyn became the first Lion in school history to be named first-team all-region last year and receives the honor for a second consecutive season after leading Southern in both goals (6) and assists (5) this season.

Llewellyn also enjoyed a goal-scoring streak that spanned five straight matches earlier in the year.  Two of Llewellyn's scores this year proved to be game-winners for the Lions.

Buhman was also an all-region performer last season, earning third-team honors in 2005.  In addition to being a solid defender, Buhman equaled her career-high by tallying two goals while also handing out one assist this season.

Buhman ended her four-year career by playing in every match since arriving at Southern and was a starter in every match but two.

Llewellyn and Buhman's outstanding efforts were a big key that led to Missouri Southern tying its school-record for victories in a season by going 11-4-5 overall this year and making its initial appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

The Lions also achieved their highest-ever MIAA finish this year by ending up all alone in second place with a 9-2-3 conference record.
