Llewellyn selected as Brine/MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

Overland Park, Kan.. -- Nikki Llewellyn, a junior from O'Fallon, Mo., has been selected as the Brine/MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this year as announced by the league office yesterday (Oct. 1).

Llewellyn led the Lions to a 1-0-1 record this past week and had a hand in three of the team's four goals scored.  She recorded a goal and dished out an assist in the win at Emporia State on Thursday (Sept. 27), then helped the Lions finish with a 1-1 tie by scoring in the 83rd minute of the second half at Washburn one day later (Sept. 28). 

Against ESU, Llewellyn scored the first goal of the match in the ninth minute then later assisted on the game-winning goal by Lindsey Altman in the 29th minute.

For the season, Llewellyn leads the Lions with nine goals and is tied for the team-lead with two assists.  She currently ranks second on the Lions  all-time list in points (67) and goals (29) scored and also cracked the MIAA's career top 10 scoring list with her tally at Washburn.

MSSU will next play a non-conference match at home against Northeastern State (Okla.) on Wednesday night (Oct. 3) at 5 p.m.
