FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern head coach Trevor Wachsman has announced the signing of Lebanon, Mo. native Michelle Hicks for the approaching 2009 campaign. A versatile athlete, Hicks played one year of soccer as a midfielder at Lebanon HS along with four years of cross country and two seasons of track. She helped her Springfield Soccer Club squad win three championships, with the last coming in 2008. Hicks earned All-State, All-Conference and All-District recognition and won a conference championship in the 200K run competing in cross country. She was also a four-time state qualifier in cross country and a three-time state qualifier in track. In 2007, Hicks set the school record in the 5K run with a time of 18:53. With the addition of Hicks, Wachsman has now added five newcomers to pair with 11 returning letterwinners for the upcoming season. Hicks is the daughter of Alan and Julie Hicks and plans to major in biology at MSSU.
