Lions fall at
Washburn, 2-0

Topeka, Kan. -- The Missouri Southern Lions lost for the first time
in three matches with a 2-0 setback to the Washburn Lady Blues Saturday
evening (Oct. 3) in Topeka, Kan.
Brittany Tracz got the Lady Blues going by scoring from 18 yards out off
a drop pass from Tia Stovall 38 minutes into the first half.
The Lady Blues (6-4, 3-3 MIAA) maintained the one-goal lead until Ashley
Taylor scored an insurance goal in the 70th minute on a free kick from
eight yards away off of assists from Ashley Hynek and Leah Talley.
Southern was out-shot 12-7 overall and 6-3 on-goal. Jentri White and
Shannon Kuhn each had two shots and one shot-on-goal to lead the Lions
(4-8, 2-6 MIAA).
Taylor and Angela Wiseman each had a match-high of three shot attempts
to pace the Lady Blues.
Randi Russell recorded three saves in the net for the Lions, while
Ashley Klone also stopped three shots for the Lady Blues.
The Lions' next matchup will take place in 12 days as they will host
Southwest Baptist on Thursday night (Oct. 15) at 7 p.m. |
