Lions drop MIAA
Opener at Central Missouri, 3-0

The defending MIAA champion Central Missouri Jennies handed the Missouri
Southern Lions a 3-0 loss in the MIAA opener for both schools Thursday
night (Sept. 10) in Warrensburg, Mo.
Sharaya Sidebottom struck early in both halves to put the Jennies on
top.
First, she scored in the first minute of the match for the Jennies
(2-2-1) on a feed from Jenna Stones, then quickly assisted on a score by
Melanie Hall just five minutes into the second half for a 2-0 UCM
advantage.
Angela Dobbie then put the finishing touches on the victory with a goal
in the 81st minute of action off an assist from Kayla Shain.
Stephaine Heines and Audrey Copenhaver each recorded a shot for the
Lions, who were out-shot 15-2 overall.
Goalkeeper Randi Russell recorded five saves in the match for Southern
(2-3-0).
The Lions will stay on the road and face Southwest Baptist on Saturday
afternoon (Sept. 12) at noon in Bolivar, Mo.
