FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Joplin, Mo. -- Nikki Llewellyn tied the score in the 88th minute of regulation, then won it with a goal in the second overtime to lead the Missouri Southern Lions to a 2-1 double-overtime win over the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats Saturday night (Nov. 1) at Hal Bodon Field. Llewellyn's first goal came after she missed on a penalty kick but stayed with the play and scored off the deflection. She then won it in the 103rd minute off a corner kick assist from Audrey Copenhaver in the second overtime. Andrea Tritz put the Bearcats on top early in the second half on a goal from 25 yards out at the 50:12 mark. Llewellyn, the Lions' all-time leading scorer, led the Lions with a game-high seven shots and five on-goal. Randi Russell equaled her career-high with nine saves in goal for the Lions (5-11-1, 3-10-1 MIAA), while Kira Lazenby stopped four shots for the Bearcats (8-8-2, 4-8-2 MIAA). The Lions will next host Washburn on Thursday night (Nov. 6) at 7 p.m.
