Tenth ranked Central Missouri slips by Southern, 1-0

. -- Missouri Southern freshman goalkeeper Randi Russell had eight saves in goal and held the tenth ranked Central Missouri Jennies scoreless for more than 80 minutes, but an early score lifted Central over Southern, 1-0 today in Warrensburg.

Southern (4-9, 2-8 MIAA) was outshot 20-5 in the match but Russell stopped eight shots in goal with the lone score coming just before the ten minute mark.

Central (12-1-1. 10-0 MIAA) remained unbeaten in MIAA play, getting an early goal from Melanie Hall, her tenth of the season, off a pass from Lindsay Hoerl.

Nikki Llewellyn led the Lions with two shots, one on goal as Sarah Evers, Stephanie Heines and Brianna Ragains had a shot each. Russell played the entire game with five saves in the first and three in the second half.

The Lions will be back in action on Thursday, October 23 when they play host to Missouri Western at 7 pm on Hal Bodon Field.
