Lions fall 1-0 at
Washburn

-- The Missouri Southern Lions had their two-game winning streak snapped
with a 1-0 loss to the Washburn Lady Blues in MIAA action Saturday night
(Oct. 4) in Topeka, Kan.
The lone goal of the match was scored when the Lady Blues' Lauren Henry
found Danielle Ayala for a score from four yards out in the 33rd minute
of action.
The Lions (4-7, 2-6 MIAA) hung in behind goalkeeper Randi Russell's six
saves despite being out-shot 17-4 overall and 7-2 on-goal. Jenny Persons
made two saves for the Lady Blues (6-5-1, 2-4 MIAA).
Sarah Evers led the Lions with two shots and one on-goal, while Ayala
recorded a match-high six shots and four shots-on-goal for WU.
The Lions will next play on Thursday afternoon (Oct. 16) in Bolivar, Mo.
against Southwest Baptist. The match is scheduled for 4 p.m. |
