FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Kansas City, Mo. -- Senior Nikki Llewellyn (O’Fallon, Mo.) and freshman Audrey Copenhaver (Kansas City, Mo.) were each All-MIAA first-team selections, as announced Wednesday (Nov. 12) by conference’s coaches. Senior Elise Cairo (Loveland, Colo.) and junior Stephanie Heines (San Antonio, Texas) also earned all-conference honorable-mention honors. Llewellyn, the Lions’ all-time points and goals leader, garners all-conference first-team honors for the fourth straight season after again leading the team with 11 goals and five-game-winning scores this season. The last game-winning goal came in the season finale of 2008 as Llewellyn scored in double-overtime to lift the Lions to a 2-1 win over Emporia State (Nov. 9). Copenhaver was an important contributor to the Lions’ defensive effort and also ranked second on the team with three assists. Cairo tallied one goal, while Heines finished second on the Lions with five goals and also dished out two assists to notch her second consecutive all-conference honorable-mention selection. |
