Llewellyn, Walker named Academic All-District

Joplin, Mo. -- Seniors Nikki Llewellyn and Megan Walker have each been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VII squad, announced today.

Llewellyn, an O'Fallon, Mo. native, was a first team selection and garners this honor for the third consecutive season with a 3.81 GPA in Finance and Economics.  She is the Lions all-time leader in points (103) and goals (46) and currently leads the Lions with eight goals this season and three game-winners.  Llewellyn notched her first career hat-trick with three goals in a 5-1 win at Emporia State earlier this season.  Succeeding in the classroom is nothing new for Llewellyn, as she has also earned a spot on the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the past two seasons.

Walker, a native of Grapevine, Texas, maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA in Mass Communications.  A second team selection, Walker is currently tied for second on the Lions with two assists this season.  Like Llewellyn, Walker has consistently performed well in the classroom, as she has been a member of the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for two straight years and was selected as an MIAA Presidential Scholar last season.

Llewellyn's name now goes on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

The Lions (4-10-1, 2-9-1 MIAA) will conclude the 2008 campaign with a four-game homestand that will begin tonight against Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m.
