Nikki Llewellyn named MIAA Offensive Player of the Week

Overland Park, Kan.
. -- After helping to lead the Missouri Southern women's soccer team to a 2-0 week, including a win at fifth ranked Central Missouri, junior forward Nikki Llewellyn has been named the Brine/MIAA Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Llewellyn, a 5-foot-7 O'Fallon, Mo. native, had three goals -- two unassisted -- as the Lions closed to within one game of the lead in the conference standings with two wins last weekend.

She had her two unassisted markers in the first half of a 3-1 win at Missouri Western Friday night (Oct. 12). The first was on a direct free kick in the 33rd minute for a 2-0 lead, with the other coming in the 43rd minute on a breakaway.

Llewellyn scored an insurance goal in the 84th minute off an assist from Amy Davis in MSSU's 2-0 win at No. 5 Central Missouri Saturday (Oct. 13) -- as the Lions handed the Jennies their second loss in as many days.

Llewellyn, who moved up to seventh on the MIAA's career scoring list (34g, 9a, 77 pts.), is a graduate of Francis Howell High School. She is just five goals from tying the MSSU single-season record of 19, and is two goals from tying the career mark. Llewellyn currently leads the MIAA in goals, goals per game, game winning goals and is second in points.
