key Southern's 1-0 win over SBU

Junior Nikki Llewellyn (O'Fallon, Mo.) scored just over four minutes in
and the Missouri Southern Lions' defensive unit made it stand as the
20th ranked Lions won their 2007 MIAA opener 1-0 over the Southwest
Baptist Bearcats Friday night (Aug. 31) in Bolivar, Mo.
The goal is Llewellyn's fourth in as many matches to begin the season,
as the Lions' second all-time leading scorer notched her first
game-winner of the season.
The MSSU defense was stingy all night, allowing SBU only one
shot-on-goal the entire match. Overall, the Bearcats held a 10-8 shots
advantage, with Southern holding a 4-1 shots-on-goal edge.
Llewellyn led the Lions (3-0, 1-0 MIAA) with three shot-attempts, while
sophomore Jentri White (Catoosa, Okla.) had a team-high two
shots-on-goal.
Dominie Emmanuel had three shots to lead SBU (1-2, 0-1 MIAA).
MSSU next plays in one week on Friday (Sept. 7) at Abilene Christian at
5 p.m.
