12 Lions named to MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll; MSSU also earns NSCAA Team Academic Award

Kansas City, Mo. -- 12 Missouri Southern student-athletes have been named to the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, as announce today by the league office.  In addition to the individual honors, MSSU also received an NSCAA Team Academic Award for the third straight season with a team GPA of 3.36.  To be eligible for the Team Academic Award, a soccer program must have a team GPA of at least 3.0 for the 2006-07 school year.

To be eligible for the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must: 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher at the nominating institution, 2) have at least two terms of attendance at the nominating institution (excluding summer session), 3) achieved at least sophomore athletic standing.  Redshirts and those seeking medical hardship are not eligible.

Success in the classroom has been a top priority under fifth-year coach Trevor Wachsman.  During the five years Wachsman has been at the helm, the Lions have placed 44 student-athletes on the MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
