Jessica Harthcock named Brine/MIAA Player of the Week

Overland Park, KS -- After scoring the game-winning goal with 23 seconds left over 15th ranked Truman State, Missouri Southern freshman Jessica Harthcock (Boerne, Texas) has been named the Brine/MIAA Player of the Week as announced by the league office today.

Harthcock and the Lions fought to a double-overtime tie on Friday night at home against Central Missouri. Southern came back on Sunday and when it looked as if the game would go into overtime for seventh time this season, Harthcock took the ball on the left side and beat the keeper far post for the game winning goal with just 23 seconds remaining in the game.

The game-winning goal was the Lions' fourth of the season that had come within the final 28 seconds of the game. The shot was one of just two on goal for Southern against the Bulldogs.

Harthcock is third on the team in goals this year with two.

The Lions will be back in action this Saturday, October 21 taking on Missouri Western at Hal Bodon field at 2 p.m.
