FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Maryville, Mo.. -- The Missouri Southern Lions women's soccer out-shot the Northwest Missouri State Bearcats 18-11 and 8-6 on-goal, but couldn't find the net and lost 1-0 to the Bearcats Saturday afternoon (Sept. 16) in Maryville, Mo. The match leaves both squads at 1-1 in the MIAA, with the Bearcats improving to 5-2 overall and the Lions falling to 3-3-1 on the season. The only goal of the match was scored by the Bearcats' Holly Ramaeker on an assist from Megan Kruger off a corner kick at the 23:11 mark of the first half. That would be all Northwest goalkeeper Alison Sheridan would need as she turned back eight shots of Southern, while goalkeeper Kaney Tyler (Topeka, Kan.) made five saves for the Lions. Nikki Llewellyn (O'Fallon, Mo.) led the Lions with six shots, with two being on-goal. Jessica Buhman (Olathe, Kan.), Erin Gfeller (Overland Park, Kan), Elise Cairo (Loveland, Colo.), Lauren Kurelac (Blue Springs, Mo.) and Allison Schaugnessey (St. Louis, Mo.) all recorded two shots for MSSU. Missouri Southern will get right back at it Sunday afternoon (Sept. 17) by playing at Missouri Western at 2 p.m.
