FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Tahlequah, Okla.. -- Neither Missouri Southern or Northeastern State (Okla.) could muster any offense as the two squads fought to a 0-0, double-overtime tie Sunday afternoon (Sept. 10) in Tahlequah, Okla. It is the Lions first scoreless tie this season, after having four such matches last year. The Lions (3-2-1) definitely had the most opportunities to get on the board in the match, out-shooting the Lady Reds (2-3-2) 16-8 overall and 10-3 in shots-on-goal. Jessica Harthcock (Boerne, Texas), Nikki Llewellyn (O'Fallon, Mo.) and Erin Whelan (Belleville, Ill.) each had three shots for the Lions, with Harthcock and Allison Schaughnessey (St. Louis, Mo.) leading the way for Southern with two shots on goal. Lions goalkeeper Kaney Tyler recorded three saves, while Sara Spencer and Patricia Davis combined to stop 10 shots for the Lady Reds. Missouri Southern will next resume MIAA action by playing at Northwest Missouri State on Saturday (Sept. 16). The match is slated for 2 p.m. in Maryville, Mo.
