Tyler collects Brine/MIAA Goalkeeper of the Week honors

Missouri Southern State University sophomore goalkeeper Kaney Tyler (Topeka, Kan./Seaman HS) has been named the Brine/Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Goalkeeper of the Week for the second straight week.

Tyler made nine saves in two matches last week as the Lions ran their unbeaten string to nine games. She made nine saves and allowed one goal in MSSU’s 5-1 home win on Sept. 26 over Central Missouri State. Tyler also allowed just one goal in the Lions’ 6-1 defeat Sunday (Oct. 2) of Missouri Western.

For the season, Tyler holds an MIAA-leading 0.61 goals-against average and has a school record six shutouts.

It marks the third time this season for Tyler to win the MIAA weekly honor. She also won the award on Sept. 5 and Sept. 26.

Missouri Southern (7-2-2, 4-0-2 MIAA) continues its home stand this weekend by entertaining Southwest Baptist. The home stand wraps up with the Lions hosting Rockhurst on Oct. 12.
