Three Lions on MIAA Commissioner’s
Academic Honor Roll for women’s
soccer
Three members of the Missouri Southern
State University women’s soccer team were named to the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association
Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll announced on Monday
(Dec. 6).
MSSU student-athletes named to the team
included:
Senior Sarah
Sneed (Topeka, Kan./Washburn
Rural) - Sneed, who started all 20 games of her senior season,
is a biology and chemistry major with a 3.645 grade-point
average. She tied for second on the team with three goals,
including game-winners in both meetings with Missouri-Rolla.
Junior Alese
Woolard (Claremore,
Okla./Oologah) - Woolard started Southern’s final 12
games in goal and posted 70 saves with a 1.29 goals-against
average. The education major holds a 3.383 GPA.
Sophomore Jessica
Buhman (Olathe, Kan./St. Thomas
Aquinas) - Buhman, who scored a pair of goals this season, is a
nursing major with a 3.50 GPA, started all 20 games for the
Lions in 2004.
Sneed, Woolard and Buhman were All-MIAA
selections in 2004. They helped the Lions to a 10-8-2 record,
including 8-5-1 for third place in the conference.
To earn MIAA Commissioner’s Academic
Honor Roll recognition, student-athletes must: 1) have a
cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at the nominating institution,
2) have at least two terms of attendance at the nonminating
institution (excluding summer session), and 3) be at least a
sophomore in athletic eligibility. Redshirts and those seeking
a medical hardship are not eligibile.
