Munnelly earns second-team Verizon Academic All-District honors

Missouri Southern sophomore forward Ashley Munnelly (Springfield, Mo.) has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII Women's Soccer Team as selected by sports information directors.

Munnelly carries a 3.42 GPA in English and has scored a school and conference record 19 goals this season. She scored goal No. 19 on Nov. 1 at Emporia State, one of three goals that marked her fourth career hat trick. She also broke the conference record for points in a season, notching her 43rd point in the 5-2 victory.

She currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division II in goals average (1.19 per game) and 12th in points (2.69 per game). Munnelly leads the MIAA in goals, points, shots and game-winning goals and has helped the Lady Lions to an 11-4-2 overall record, including a 7-2-2 mark in conference action.

She has 11 career multiple-goal games, including seven this season. Munnelly is also Southern's career leader in goals (36), assists (11) and points (83).

Last season, Munnelly, a graduate of SpringfieldÕs Kickapoo High School, tied for the MIAA single-season goals record with two other players.
