Shank wins second MIAA Athlete of the Week Award

Kansas City, Mo. --  After finishing third in this past weekend's Missouri Southern Stampede, senior Kimi Shank (Rolla, Mo.) has been named the MIAA Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today. This is Shank's second weekly honor this season, winning the award each week the Lions have been active.

Shank was third with a time of 17:36.65, finishing just behind two Arkansas runners and placing as the top division II runner in the event. She defeated 13 other Division I runners in the process and was the top Division II performer at the meet, helping the Lions place second in the team competition just 22 points behind the University of Arkansas. Southern defeated three nationally ranked Division II schools, as well as one nationally ranked NAIA institution.

The Lions will be off this week before traveling to Oklahoma State on October 3 for the OSU Jamboree.
