Men's and Women's cross country squads ranked
ranked regionally
and nationally in preseason polls
New Orleans, La. -- The Missouri Southern men's and
women's cross country squads have both been ranked regionally
and nationally in the United States Track and Field and Cross
Country Coaches Association preseason polls.
The Southern men start the season
ranked 14th nationally and second in the South Central Region
behind 2007 National Champion Abilene Christian. The Southern
men were a unanimous pick to win the MIAA Title in the coaches
preseason poll and are looking for their fourth straight
conference crown.
Southern's women start the season
ranked 11th nationally and second in the South Central Region
behind Abilene Christian. The Lions were also picked to win the
MIAA Title this year and are looking to win their third straight
championship after sweeping the MIAA Triple Crown a season ago,
winning cross country, and indoor and outdoor track.
Both squads will open up the
season next weekend (September 5) as they travel to
Fayetteville, Ark. to take place in the Arkansas Invitational.
