Men's and Women's cross country squads ranked ranked regionally and nationally in preseason polls

New Orleans, La. --  The Missouri Southern men's and women's cross country squads have both been ranked regionally and nationally in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason polls.

The Southern men start the season ranked 14th nationally and second in the South Central Region behind 2007 National Champion Abilene Christian. The Southern men were a unanimous pick to win the MIAA Title in the coaches preseason poll and are looking for their fourth straight conference crown.

Southern's women start the season ranked 11th nationally and second in the South Central Region behind Abilene Christian. The Lions were also picked to win the MIAA Title this year and are looking to win their third straight championship after sweeping the MIAA Triple Crown a season ago, winning cross country, and indoor and outdoor track.

Both squads will open up the season next weekend (September 5) as they travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to take place in the Arkansas Invitational.
